Management 101 - con'td 2

One of the principals. that most people do not understand, when it comes to mismanagement is: Span of Control. Simply stated, you cannot manage that which you cannot see, feel or hear. To prov this principal, have someone you know, go into a dark room shut the door, and do something. If this is done as stated, I will bet you a thousand to one that you cannot tell that person, when he exits the room what he did. If you can't see it, feel it or hear it - you cannot know what he/she has done or is doing. A good example of this is the ignorance displayed by the public at large, blaming Bush for all that went wrong During the Katrina Catastrophe. In this case, all the mistakes, that enhanced the poor performance, were made at the place the hurricane occurred--that is along our southern coastal cities, states, such as New Orleans, Mississippi and so on. Bush, during this occurrence was in Washington, miles away from the problem areas. He has no presents in the area, so he could not have caused those things that hap pend to happen. NO ONE IN THEIR RIGHT MIND COULD BLAME HIM FOR WHAT OCCURRED. IN MANAGING A SITUATION, YOU HAVE TO HAVE A PRESENCE. TO FIX A LEAKING FAUCET--THE PLUMBER HAS TO COME TO THE HOME WHERE THE LEAKING FAUCET IS. THOSE ON THE SPOT OR CLOSEST TO THE OCCURRENCE ARE THE FIRST RESPONDERS AND THAT IS WHO SHOULD BE BLAMED FOR THE POOR RESULTS. HIS COMING TO NEW ORLEANS. the next day would have served no good and in fact would of been a distraction. Only God: knows all sees all, hears all and can be everywhere at the same time. In short, you have to go where the trouble occurred, however, one man, cannot be every-where, not even the President of The United States. What people seem to forget, that the greater damage in New Orleans was the result of the Dyke's being breached. This is a part of the incident that should not have occurred. It was the result of the Democrats running the State for the past sixty years, prior to Katrina, that instead of using the over 200 million dollars they received to keep the dyke's in good order were Instead, used to buy votes.
