Open Letter to Preident Obama

President Obama, you have,in the past several days, been reading piety me letter's that make me sick. Sir I was born in the year l930 or better stated at the near begging of the Great Depression to an epileptic mother. At the time of my birth, there had been five children born, two died early after birth. Prior to mu Mothers early death in l941, she had given birth to eleven children. In l936-37 I was sent the an Orphan home in Joliet, Illinois, the place of my birth. After cumming out of the orphans home in 1937. a Black women was sent to our home to help my mother and her family. On the Frist day of school, in l937, I got into a fight with a boy who was making fun of me because of my clothing. When the Nun pulled me off the kid, she sent me home--never trying find out why we were fighting. I WAS AUTOMATICALLY JUDGED TO BE AT FAULT. After walking home over the Jefferson st bridge, I explained to Mrs. Lewis what happened she, without question put on her bowler type hat, took my hand, and together we walked back to the school, a distance of about 2 miles. I don't know what she said but I was allowed to attend school. Yes I crosswed the racial barrier with my Rosa Parks, many years ago. Years latter, during world War II, while working as an Ice Man, delivering Ice to homes, by the pound either 25, 50, 75 or 100 pounds, depending on the size of the Ice box. Since Mrs, Lewis left us in l938, this was the first time we had met since than--the year was l943. I was l3 years old and at the time, I do not think you could have found two people so happy to see each other. However, when I offered to give her Ice, free, she verbally crawled all over me, and today, what she said to me still sticks in my mind:-"i AIN'T NO NIGGER, YOU DON;T GIVE ME NUTHIN." TO MAKE A LONG STORY SHORT, FROM THE TIME I WAS BORN, UNTIL I JOINED THE AIR FORCE IN JANUARY 1948, I LIVED IN AND ORPHANS HOME, A TRAINING SCHOOL FOR Boys (HAD TO WORK SEVEN DAYS A WEEK, IN A BOWLING ALLEY,ALONG WITH ONE OF MY BROTHERS BECAUSE MY DAD BROKE TWO RIBS ON HIS JOB AND COULD NOT WORK). YES I WAS SENT TO A TRAINING SCHOOL BECAUSE I HAD TO WORK TO HELP MY DAD OUT IN SUPPORTING THE FAMILY WHICH BY THIS TIME CONSISTED AS A FAMILY OF THREE OVER THE FIRST 17 HEARS OF MY LIFE; I LIVED IN AN ORPHANS HOME, TRAINING SCHOOL FOR BOYS, AND SIX FOSTER HOMES. I STARTED TO WORK AT AGE 8 AND NEVER STOPPED WORKING IN MY LIFETIME, I NEVER DREW ONE CHECK OF UNEMPLOYMENT'S COMPENSATION. I AM NOT TELLING THIS OUT OF A CRY FOR SYMPATHY, BUT I WORKED ALL MY LIFE AND DAMMIT IF A BLACK WOMEN AND A WHITE BOY CAN FIND A JOB, DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION--I CANNOT SEE WHY FULL GROWN CITIZENS OF TODAY, IN THE LAND OF PLANTY, CANNOT FIND A JOB. PEOPLE LIKE ME THAT COME OUT OF THE GREAT5 DEPRESSION, MANAGED TO SURVIVE--BY GETTING OFF OUR ASSES AND GOING TO WORK--AT ANY JOB WE COULD FIND. SOCIAL WELFARE IS A SOCIAL SICKNESS BORN OUT OF OUR PITHY ME CITIZENS OF TODAY--PLEASE OBAMA NO MORE POOR PITHY ME LETTERS. THEY MAKE ME SICK1 THE MESSENGER PS if you want to read more about my early life you can get my book: Raised in the Greatest Generation - no silver spoons at Amazon.com, Authorise, com.B&N and others.
